The Team

Peter Christensen

Head Chef and owner, Peter, began his culinary career in Brisbane working for a small fine dining restaurant and then hotels.  In 1999, Peter & Michelle travelled to Victoria, Canada where he worked for a boutique catering company, Feys & Hobbs for 12 months.  It is here Peter gained a growing respect for the use of local and sustainable produce.

In 2000, Peter and Michelle relocated to England and over the next 4 years, Peter worked with notable chefs such as Jonathan Wright at La Gousse D'Ail (former chef de cuisine of 2 Michelin Star Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons) and John Burton Race at JBR Restaurant at the Landmark Hotel.

Returning home to Brisbane in 2004, Peter has worked at renowned restaurant Lat 27 and most recently at Liquorish Bistro and Restaurant where they were awarded Restaurant & Catering QLD 'Best New Restaurant' in 2007.

Peter is keen to utilise the fantastic local produce, whilst utilising his vast international experience for his first venture.

Michelle Christensen

Restaurant Manager and owner, Michelle has worked in the industry for 17 years in restaurants, hotels and events.  Whilst travelling, Michelle worked in a number of restaurants including La Gousse D'Ail and at the Landmark Hotel.  When they returned home in 2004, Michelle moved from restaurants, into events, working at both The Stamford Plaza and more recently as Functions Manager at the exclusive Brisbane Club.

In 2010, on a trip to Sydney, Peter & Michelle fell in love with the area and the restaurant after a lazy Sunday lunch with friends, which began to fuel the idea of their own place.  When Clareville Kiosk became available in August 2011 it seemed like it was meant to be.

Both Peter & Michelle are keen to put their own stamp onto the restaurant but are adamant that they want to maintain the warm and cosy charm of the restaurant they first fell in love with.
